Do you tip?

Hi Travelers!

English for Travelers has started and one question has intrigued us: Do you tip in your country? How are we supposed to deal with this culture of tipping when travelling to other countries?

Here's a video that relates tipping with being outdoors or indoors, rising or falling economies.

Regarding movies, I love that scene in Le Divorce. An American family is in Paris having lunch and all that French food is presented (delicious!). After what it seems an incredible meal, Americans get shocked with the check and start discussing about the tip. At the end, the French guy (when no one’s looking) leaves 50 euros at the table. Another French-American conflict.

Le Divorce
French vs. American social customs and behaviors are observed in a story about an American visiting her Frenchman-wed sister in Paris.
